HYPERREAL MODEL

Model Making

In lockdown we spend more time in our spaces, noticing how at a certain time of day and the perfect weather conditions might affect your space. The goal of the project is to explore and convey “atmosphere” and “affect” through photography and hyper-real models

My chosen space is the living room on a sunny day just as the sun is about to set. “Atmosphere” and “affect” can easily transition between two scenes simply by light. For example, warm light creating an atmosphere similar to that of a hot day close to a lake and dappled light filtered through the trees in a forest.

A new atmosphere…

HYPERREAL_FOREST.jpg

A home deep in the forest surrounded by towering trees. The space is illuminated softly by the setting sun through the trees foliage - unfortunately a tree decided the living room would be its new home.

Crashing through the side window and toppling a chair - but leaving the walls unscathed lays a a piece of the forest.

With the windows located on the side wall you are unable to look out to any exterior elements. I wanted to create a new atmosphere by casting diffused light onto the front facing wall- a dappled light effect is achieved by filtering light through found objects, like scrap wood pieces placed outside the window.
